My toes are a little close to the end, which makes me worried for hiking, but I think a 9 would be too large. These are super comfortable. I have high arches, a high instep, and wide toe box and these shoes work perfectly for all of those issues. My biggest concern with shoes is always that my high instep will cause my foot to go numb when the shoe is laced up tight enough to keep my foot steady, but these feel perfect.
