The size 40 fits correctly as a size 9.5 to 10 medium. What I am disappointed about is the near total lack of arch support, lack of cushion under my feet. My Dansko Lucie wool blend slippers are so comfortable and supportive, I will look for more of those and not buy any more of this style. I already got the soles dirty so will keep them or donate. Very pretty!
