Having suffered from several foot injuries during his tennis career, Tim Brennan eventually decided that his conventional athletic shoes were to blame and set about creating his own. By the time he officially launched VivoBarefoot shoes in 2004, Brennan had already spent five years on research and development, which included input from sixth generation shoemaker Galahad Clark. At the time, VivoBarefoot running shoes and tennis shoes were the first minimalist athletic shoes engineered with ultra-thin, puncture-resistant soles designed to offer lightweight shock absorption and sensory feedback. The concept took off, and minimalist footwear has been gaining momentum ever since. Today, VivoBarefoot shoes are available in more than 50 different models, from trail running shoes to chukkas. Vivo the revolution.

5.0 out of 5 stars. Versatile & ComfortableReviewed by Suvi from Maryland on Wednesday, September 18, 2024Very versatile, comfortable, well crafted shoes! I am confident they will last a long time. These are cute enough to be worn as everyday shoes in the fall and winter but grippy and sturdy enough to be worn on a rugged hike. If you are coming from other barefoot shoes, these don’t require any breaking in, they are super comfortable from the start. If you’ve never worn barefoot shoes before, I wouldn’t recommend jumping into a long hike immediately with these shoes, you need to train your feet to feel comfortable with feeling the ground below you first. My only complaint with these shoes is the laces untie themselves too easily and I wish the sock part at the ankle of the shoe is tighter. For sizing, I am right in between two sizes. I honestly could have gone either way but opted to size up which I don’t regret because now there’s plenty of room to wear thick wool socks in the winter. Overall I love these shoes and they preformed well on a challenging Icelandic waterfall hike.

4.0 out of 5 stars. box says for men, runs a little largeReviewed by teero from Illionis on Tuesday, July 30, 2024The box says it's a men's shoe. I am not sure if I received the wrong product or Sierra has mislabeled this. The styling itself seems unisex to me.
I most often wear a women's 9, though sometimes I go down to an 8.5. I ordered a 40 and it was overall too large for me, both in length and the spread of the toe box. Not sure if the larger than expected toe box is because it's a men's shoe or because it's a "barefoot" shoe, but regardless, it veered slightly into clown shoe territory on me
Otherwise, it seemed like a quality shoe with nice materials. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Great shoe, wider toe boxReviewed by Andromeda from Connecticut on Tuesday, July 23, 2024Great shoe. I use them as slippers. Luv the leather sole. Has a wider toe box than most vivos. I’m a 39 regularly, but because there are no shoe laces, they are a bit loose, however I have a low volume foot and use thin liner socks. My feet measure 24.5 and 25 cm.
