About Tackle, Lures & Bait
After centuries of innovation, modern anglers now have thousands of different fishing lures to choose from. The jig is a type of lure that molds a hook into a sinker and resembles a bait fish. Fishing jigs can be used to attract a wide range of saltwater and freshwater fish. Spinners or spinnerbait lures feature a petal-shaped attachment that spins like a propeller when pulled through the water. A spoon lure consists of an oblong, spoon-shaped piece of metal, usually with a treble hook at the end. Plug lures from brands like Rapala are also called crankbait, wobbler lures or artificial minnows, and emulate bait fish and other aquatic creatures. Crankbait lures typically have a treble hook attached to the midsection and tail, and are available in a wide range of shapes and colors.
