The side pockets do have a side zipper so you can tuck your hands in it, which is a very nice design. The front pockets are also opens from the top as well.
I'm petite and the arm length stop around my knuckles. I won't need to need to get the sleeves tailored because there are two wrist snap buttons that can be used to stop the sleeve from sliding. I haven't used it in the rain yet, so I'm not sure about performance and durability, however I have other NF jackets and those perform well in wet conditions so I assume this jacket will be similar in performance.
