1.0 out of 5 stars. HUH? SURVIVAL?Reviewed by Old Geezer from Alaska on Monday, October 2, 2023OK I have been backpacking and camping for 53 ,54 years. I've never taken a corkscrew, a bottle opener, a nail file or almost all of these items in my survival kit. Or a flashlight.. ...My kit would be a bandana (get the dirt out of water as a filter before I disinfect my water, a ferro rod, a steel wool (soap removed-used),a lighter, a headlamp, extra batteries, a knife (which I use with a ferro rod and a steel wool to start a fire) a survival blanket (it even is useable as a signal mirror or for hypothermia) and package that in a Nalgene bottle. And a first aid basic kit (supply your own meds) with bandages and stuff. For survival you need protection from harsh elements, clean water, warmth, hydration, possibly food, some light and you supply some food and other essentials like a hygiene kit. I mean you are carrying it. I am not an ultra lighter, and I am an old man, a short guy at that. You may be carrying that weight for a long time so consider the important stuff like shelter, safe water collection and cleanliness be it boil, iodine, Katadyn,Steri Pen (I have done them all! )etc. Hike your own hike, make your own kit. Its a thoughtful Polyanna though. So another star or two for that.
