After leaving their corporate jobs to pursue their true passion, Scott Caras, Peter Crommett and Ted Upton created the Cheeky Fly Fishing reel company in 2009. After spending two years prototyping, testing and refining, the trio officially launched their first series of reels in 2011. I like having 2 identical reels when I travel in case something goes wrong with one reel I can still use its spool and line. I took my first Boost 400 to Argentina for Golden Dorado and it worked flawlessly. My only complaint about this reel is that the drag is not sealed which seems surprising in this day and age. I would be extremely carful about using it in salt water or even in alkaline lakes like Pyramid Lake in Nevada.
